The U.S. Postal Service issued the US Army 250th stamp to celebrate the 250th anniversary of thefounding of the U.S. Army and recognize the Army's contributions to the nation.
The Army predates the founding of the United States by more than a year and is known as the nation'sfirst national institution. With its Revolutionary-era motto, "All That We Shall Defend," today's Armyincludes approximately 450,000 active-duty Soldiers, more than 325,000 Army National Guard Soldiersnearly 190,000 Army Reserve Soldiers, and more than 265,000 civilian personnel who provide essentiamission support, all of whom remain mindful of the Army's core values: loyalty, duty, respect, selflessservice, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
The stamp was designed by art director Antonio Alcalá
The US Army 250th stamp is being issued as a Forever® stamp. The Forever stamp will always beworth the same as the current 1-ounce First-Class Mail®.
